Atheer Alkhalifa — Saudi visual artist
Atheer Alkhalifa treats art as a space for asking and for dwelling, before it is a way of answering or of depicting directly. A painting is not a transcription of what is there; it is a record of the feeling attached to an ordinary moment and the memory that moment carries. Her work begins in the detail of the Najdi interior — the old houses, the rituals of hospitality, the family gathering — and turns those elements into a visual account that summons the sensation rather than the shape.
Acrylic is her main medium. She works through expressive symbolism and the balance of mass, space and colour, to make something that reaches past the visual frame into the viewer's own feeling.
